Taurus moved to Detroit in 1998 to attend the College for Creative Studies, where he graduated with a Fine Arts degree in 2002. His focus then was on figurative realism and searching for ways to represent the inner struggle for selfhood. Adding in the influence of race, politics and history over time has led to narrative scenes that dissect systemic racism through the use of portraiture, anthropomorphism and allegory.
His solo show, “DEFENSIVE”, is scheduled for September 2021 at the Chalfonte House in Detroit. You can find more information about his solo show here. Taurus currently has a studio at 333 Midland in Highland Park where a masked, socially distanced studio visit can be arranged through his contact page.
