Harry Taylor
Harry Taylor brings a wide range of experience to detroit contemporary. His photographs have been published in Women’s Wear Daily, the Metro Times, the Village Voice, and the first issue of People Magazine. He spent 12 years as an elementary special education teacher in the Detroit Public Schools. Mr. Taylor was an enlisted musician for 3-years with Army bands during the Vietnam War. He has performed on trombone at Meadowbrook, Cliff Bells, Aretha’s Jazz Café and Baker’s Keyboard Lounge. He has written for Young Hawaii Magazine, the Detroit News, the News-Herald Newspapers, Billboard Magazine and spent 5-years as a writer/producer for WXYZ-TV Chanel 7 Action News. He’s run 5 marathons.
Taylor has a B.A. from Albion College with a major in music, an M.F.A. from the Cranbrook Academy of Art with a concentration in photography, and a Master of Art in Teaching from Wayne State University. Current musical commitments include the M-1 Jazz Collective big band, the Ferndale Community Concert Band and leading the 8-piece combo Harry Taylor Jazz.
Harry’s been married to artist Susan Aaron-Taylor for 52-years.
