Desawna Buford
Desawna "SIS" Buford is a poet and writer from the eastern side of Detroit, MI. Born and raised, she has always had a lighthearted view of life, which has fueled her vivid imagination and inspired her to create stories since she was five years old. Writing became an outlet for her as she experienced trauma in her youth, and she coped with it by crafting alternative narratives.
Recently, Buford created a digital newspaper, "CULTURETales," where she provides enlightenment and information. She is also currently attending WCCCD for her undergraduate degree in film and journalism, aiming to tell her stories and contribute to healing the world on a larger scale. In addition to her healing mission, she is planning to pursue her passion for fashion by attending the ISAIC fashion program inside the Carhartt building. She wears many hats and is determined to live out her dreams while making a positive impact on the world with every step she takes.
